The ten-day Seabbatical voyage begins in Antigua, before
setting sail to the islands of Nevis and St Kitts, and
culminating on the island of Tortolla in the British Virgin
Islands (BVIs).
From the moment crew and staff step aboard Ocean
Star, they become one team, working together to ensure
the effective operation of the vessel*. Ultimately, it is the
individual's ability to work cohesively with their fellow
crew that will ensure the success of the voyage.
Each day, crew duties are rotated, providing everyone
the opportunity to experience the dynamics involved
with managing new team responsibilities, whether
skippering, navigating, course plotting, or even cooking!
Our daily activity schedules will be extensive, challenging
and distinctively unique from the day before, but will
continually maintain a direct focus on true experiential
learning.
*Formal qualifications or previous experience are not a prerequisite for the Seabbatical program. However, certified instruction in both sailing and SCUBA diving can be arranged for crew in the weeks prior to the voyage, if required.
